About

Photo of Joe Winter on his bike with a trailer full of house plants behind him.

Hi, my name is Joe, and I work in a button factory.1

I’m a digital designer with a focus on creating practical, user-friendly software solutions. I’ve worked on a variety of products and services, at agencies and in-house, aiming to deliver designs that are functional and efficient. I’ve built my career by being fast, creative, and (trying to be) a good person. Collaboration is what excites me most—I hope to keep forming strong relationships and adding value to every team I join.

I live in Brooklyn with my husband and four-year-old son, having recently relocated from the Bay Area. When I’m not designing, you’ll find me making lists, talking to myself, or cleaning (how I defrag my brain).

See something interesting? Say hello!

About this website

I don’t really know what I’m doing—I learn something new about technology every day and continue to be inspired by others in the space. This website is my latest experiment in maintaining a small, personal space on the internet.

This website was created using Blot, a super simple file-based CMS that gives me full ownership and control of everything here. I’ve designed and customized everything through HTML and CSS, branching from Blot’s Blog” template. It uses Simple Analytics to guarantee privacy and all text is set in Source Sans.

  1. This is from a childhood jingle that always stuck with me. Only as an adult did I realize the song was actually about me (minus the I have a wife” part of course). 😂↩︎
