About

Photo of Joe Winter on his bike with a trailer full of house plants behind him.

Hi, my name is Joe, and I work in a button factory.*

I’m a digital native who remembers the screech of dial-up internet on our family computer. As a kid, I learned Corel Draw and Paint Shop Pro alongside my mom who studied graphic design at community college. Computers, art classes, and Star Wars were at the center of my childhood.

Today, I’m lucky to be in a profession I love. I thrive on creating thoughtful, meaningful design solutions and nerding out over the details that make them work. I've built my career by being fast, creative, and (trying to) be a good person. Collaboration is what excites me most—I hope to keep forming strong relationships and adding value to every team I join.

I live in Brooklyn, NY, with my husband and four-year-old son, having recently relocated from the Bay Area. When I’m not designing, you’ll find me biking my son around, making lists, talking to myself, or cleaning (how I defrag my brain).

See something interesting? Say hello!

*This is from a childhood jingle that always stuck with me. Only as an adult did I realize the song was actually about me (minus the "I have a wife" part of course).

Joe has a drive and passion that every company should beg for. He has trait combinations that make him a productivity powerhouse: precise but pragmatic, passionate but reasonable, curious but cognizant.
Travis Watson, Senior Software Engineer, Secureframe
Joe is talented and a very versatile interaction designer who can quickly learn technical constructs and workflows and then translate them into elegant designs that users can easily relate to. I have been impressed with his productivity, attitude, creativity, and communication skills.
